The Shadow among the Selfish

No one knew
No one would care
Day by day they never saw
The mask that she was forced to wear.

Only she knew the hole in her heart
Only she knew the pain in her past
Because she was simply nothing
Nothing but a shadow among the selfish

Why should she matter, they thought
She was nothing at all
She was so simple, so tiny, so small
She was no more then invisable against the wall

Every night new tears would well
Ice cold against hot skin
She longed for the scorching, burning tears
But they were always ice droplets, again and again

"Doesnt anyone notice", she cried
"Doesnt any care?"
But theyre too wrapped up in their own selfish lives
So no one was aware

Every night more blood fell
Mixing with ice on the floor
She sobbed and sliced, crying
"I cant do this anymore"

Taking the small blade to skin
Deeper the small blade went
As the red river dripped from her arm
Her heart beats faltered and her soul was spent

In our world today its simply
All about "Me, Me, Me"
They caused that girl to take her life
Because they refused to see

They refused to look at the hole in her heart
They refused to look at the pain in her past
Because she was simply nothing
Nothing but a shadow among the selfish.

The End
