The Repeating Of History

It's about how coups and revolutions can bring about unexpected, and bloody results

I made myself into a beast to shield myself from pain
Inflict my fears onto an unrelenting world
A cycle of power and suppression turning the same
I’ll become the tyrant I was born to replace
I’m just evil by another name and face

There’ll be no peace in the fires for you tonight
There’s no heaven, there’s no burning light

You can’t make it through the suffering
An iron fist and angelic words will condemn you
The ash and fire will leave you under ground, buried in
There’s nothing but false hope
And the repeating of history

First I was a hero, in the midst of revolution, evil rises
I scream for “For the people” in double-think time
First there is joy as the old kings malice subsides
But soon you’ll wish for the old cruelty
All too late you’ll learn lessons from history

There’ll be a black cauldron where the hated will die
An inferno will rage across these eastern skies

You can’t make it through the suffering
An iron fist and angelic words will condemn you
The ash and fire will leave you under ground, buried in
There’s nothing but false hope
And the repeating of history

No demons will trouble my conscience
I’m darker than the devil you used to know

You can’t make it through the suffering
An iron fist and angelic words will condemn you
The ash and fire will leave you under ground, buried in
There’s nothing but false hope
And the repeating of history

The End
