The Pain That Never Sleeps

For my friend

She lay silently there
Ghost of a pain to bare
In the growing dark alone
With a heart aching to care

Then came a knocking
Smell of dirt and rotting
Locked away and confined
Panic of the last breath looming

Her resting place mapped
Within a funeral gown trapped
Beneath the earth waiting slept
A wounded monster napped

All at once furious wake
For burning hunger to take
Yet the pain of her life gone
Blasts forth for revenge to make.

The End
