For You

First attempt at writing poetry over the course of several months. Apologies if the flow is rusty.

I’d pull down the moon for you

And hang it in your room

It would glow with the light

Of a thousand bottled fireflies

It would stay there for a thousand years

And never would it move

It would watch you live your life alone

Without me by your side

I would be thousands of miles away

Wishing you were mine

I cannot catch the moon for you

And even if I could

I would not hang it in your room

For fear of losing you

There is a red string
Stretched beneath

The ever shifting night sky

And if you tug the string just right

Our hearts just might fly

The End
