The Mirage Of Love
Love is supposed to be easy, devoid of judgement or tension
But it's a mirage, pretense, an iron wall of deception
Love is nothing more than false images built up over time
The disappointment, compromises and the tears we cry
I'm trying to light up our lives
Because the truth is so hard to find
I'm trying to let you see who I am
Because I'm giving light to the blind
Tolerance comes second to adoration
We conform for the sake of a moments peace
Love is not a feeling it's a weapon to wield
Each day we lie until we're part of the deceit
We can feel like we connect
We can deceive the feeling of love
We sense deception, we're broken but willing
Because she'd never tolerate me if she knows who I am
Because love is something none of us understand
I'm trying to light up our lives
Because the truth is so hard to find
I'm trying to let you see who I am
Because I'm giving light to the blind
We surrender to live as second best
We compromise our tastes, our own souls
Or do we condemn ourselves to truth
Wallow in pity, in some void, struggling to console
I just want to be who I am
I just want to know who you are
I just want to see if you can believe
That it's worth the best and worst of me
