The Lyrical Poem

Poetry using lyrics from different songs and different artists

I just can't believe that it's over

We were hanging out on the sofa,

Thinking how the guitar goes

In a song that no one knows

Do you still remember

How it used to be?

I wanna show you,

But there's no where we can really be free

You are the antidote that gets me by

Something strong, like a drug

That gets me high

But I never told you

What I should have said

No, I never told you;

I just held it in

What I really meant to say

Is I'm sorry for the way I am

I never meant to be so cold

Cos every moment

We share together

Is even better

Than the moment before

And I wonder as I sing along with you

If everything could ever be this way forever?

If anything could ever be this good again?

I can feel you falling away

No longer the lost,

No longer the same

And I can see you starting to break

I'm sorry about all the lies

Maybe in a different light

You could see me stand on my own again

If I turn into another,

Dig me up from under what is covering

The better part of me

I cannot guess what we'll discover

As we turn the dirt

With our palms cupped liked shovels

But I know our filthy hands

Will wash one another's

And not one speck will remain

I miss you

Like the deserts miss the rain

One day soon,

I'll hold you like the sun holds the moon

I'm hopeful, yes I am

Hopeful for today

Letters are gonna fall from the sky, telling us all to go free.

But until that day, I'll find a way to let everybody know that you're coming back,

You're coming back for me.

The End
