Mon Bel Ami

While 'beau' is the masculine singular of the French word for 'beautiful', before a masculine noun which starts with a vowel or a silent h, the word becomes 'bel'. :)

I fall and I fly and I drown

pleasantly,

the words that you speak

like a sweet melody.

My mind is inspired,

my heart in your hands,

Please take me and court me,

mon cher bel ami.

It started with friendship and just hanging out:

the simple delight

of your warm company.

So lovely you cared about what

came my way.

Tu étais le plus beau

de mes beaux amis.

I fall and I fly and I drown

pleasantly,

the words that you speak

like a sweet melody.

My mind is inspired,

my heart in your hands,

Please take me and court me,

mon cher bel ami.

I think that what struck me and captured my heart

was how you just seemed

to get the real me.

I’ve always desired

to be understood.

And now I have you:

mon ami favori.

I fall and I fly and I drown

pleasantly,

the words that you speak

like a sweet melody.

My mind is inspired,

my heart in your hands,

Please take me and court me,

mon cher bel ami.

So now we sit talking, like nothing has changed,

but this is intenser -

our hearts harmonied.

If feelings were crystals,

I’d always wear these.

For you are my sweetheart,

mon bel ami.

I fall and I fly and I drown

pleasantly,

the words that you speak

like a sweet melody.

My mind is inspired,

my heart in your hands,

Please take me and court me,

mon cher bel ami.

Il faut que tu m’aimes,

mon cher bel ami.

The End
