The Long Road

Hope is such a brutal feeling
it hurts as much as it cures
But if I lost faith in what matters
I wouldn’t have anyone
to depend on

We work so hard for a better tomorrow
we forget how to care for ourselves
So carry each burden with pride
sometimes it’s all we ever have
to prove someone is there

Love is such a curious emotion
it comforts when it remorselessly destroys
I don’t care if I have to take the long road home
as long as you are beside me
as long as you are there

We work so hard for a better tomorrow
we forget how to care for ourselves
So carry each burden with pride
sometimes it’s all we ever have
to prove someone is there

What else is there to say?
When the path lies with ruin
yet simple words can carry us
far beyond what we thought existed

The End
