The Light
Day after day
She never sees
What she does to me
Silently and slowly
I must release the grip I hold on to
With gentle hands, I let her leave
To start a life different from mine
I hope she makes it all right
Loving as a sister
I watch from a distance
As she turns away from him
As she steps into the shadows
I am forced to look away from her
From the past
From the present
From the future
I must let her leave, no matter how hard it is
I must let her fall
If that is what it takes to make her see
That the light is the other way around
