The Last Days of Summer
The first time I saw you
you were standing in the sunlight
in a life beyond mine
Now as I walk between raindrops
to the place you left me
I regret what I could not say
I wanted to look into your eyes
and whisper the secret my heart held
but my silence prevailed
I saw you once in my dreams
though I dared not to believe
of what could never be
Now all I can do is wonder
of the last days of Summer
because there is no other
who made me feel the way you did
I know I am less than a memory
but what might have been
remains in the sorrowful recollections
from the moment you glanced at me
to the lifetime that passed us by
I can only regret that you never knew...
