The Fire
Inside you burns a fire.
That flickers away, out of sight.
It powers you to your desire.
And guides you through the night.
It’s light. Is powerful.
It’s heat. Is healing.
Its purpose isn’t palpable,
But it can numb your feelings.
This fire lies in your heart
Through hot July to cold December.
Your fire used to burn with such heat,
But now it extinguishes to an ember
Feed your fire.
Give it all your oxygen.
From what you’ve tasted of desire.
You know you’re more powerful when you have fire.
I hope spark up soon.
For your sake, before it embers.
Because your fire will not loom,
Through this winters cold December
