The Closing Stages.

Recommend

City lights...

Dance on the horizon.

And a lumberjack perches on my shoulder

Hacking at my courage.

The last thing I will ever feel.

But this night

Since birth I have waited,

Tonight's the night, my final step.

I breathe, I jump,

Bare feet leaving the jagged concrete,

    With such minimal force.

My eyelids flutter shut,

A trivial smile plays around my lips...

And then death grasps hold,

Enveloping my body in the last calm moments of life.
