The Broken Heart That Might Be
Some people are so used to being lied to
That the truth sounds like just another fib.
Some people are so used to being knocked down
That to them, an Outstretched hand
Is indistinguishable from a fist.
And some people are so scared of being hurt
That they can't bring themselves to love at all:
Too afraid
Of the broken heart
That might be.
