The Bonds Broken
Where is the bond that shatters so easily
Friendship torn asunder in little more than seconds
Blood begins to run and I sense a repeat
I hold my hands to the sky, recognising defeat
Ready for the void
And the inevitable fire that'll arrive
But the tears I shed are real
And it still aches and kills me inside
Fractured, and somewhere I hear the shattering of glass
Captured, hearts lead astray for a fickle show of love
I grieve but I'm alone, memories echo and fade so quickly
Blackened, my heart forgets the lessons of history
Ready for the void
And the inevitable fire that'll arrive
But the tears I shed are real
And it still aches and kills me inside
Where are we going, what are we but fragile hearts
The fires split brothers paths in two
Honoured through social rules of engagement
Words written harsher than before
Ready for the void
And the inevitable fire that'll arrive
But the tears I shed are real
And it still aches and kills me inside
