The Ballet Slippers Beside the Silent Music Box

ballet slippers,

with their white silk ribbons

rest forever

upon my dresser near the fading photograph,

beside the silent music box,

its tiny dancer lost

in one last pirouette,

the years go by,

my hair grows grey into greyer grey,

as I gaze upon the ballet slippers,

so still,

so long ago,

for oh so long.
