That Wedding Ring is No Good Here

So city life wasn’t all it was cracked up to be
Your parents cut you off without a second thought
Just because I wasn’t from their inner circle
n’ I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth

So we hightailed it out onto the open road
found a little place we can make a home
So your ex-husband skips on the alimony
he prefers that you are left to starve

I just have one last thing to say

Pawn your rings so we have something to eat tonight
Just a little food so we can make it through alright
It’s too cold to argue
and my patience is through
I don’t care what you say
That wedding ring is no good here

Spent a night in the fields, in the gaze of starlight
talking about whatever just to pass the time
I kissed you on your forehead and promised you
everything is going to be fine
things will pick up

I’ll find a job to keep us on the straight and narrow
even if it’s just selling bibles door to door
Your Daddy is baying for my blood
Oh honey, don’t let him get to you

Pawn your rings so we have something to eat tonight
Just a little food so we can make it through alright
It’s too cold to argue
and my patience is through
I don’t care what you say
That wedding ring is no good here

The End
