Thank You Willis

To Willis Carrier

Inventor of the Air Conditioner

In those hot summer months

Sweltering in the overwhelming heat

The sidewalks glistening, melted

My thin cotton top feeling like a heavy sweater

Sun beating down

Humidity rising

Wishing I could live in a swimming pool

My eyes closed with anticipation

For that moment-

When I enter,

Turn on that miraculous switch

Letting the blessed cool air caress my skin

Blowing all my cares away

Allowing my mind to function yet again

Rejuvenating my drained energy

Thank you Mr. Carrier

For your invention I will be eternally grateful.
