Walk Away

(A poem I wrote to a friend in a verse-conversation we had)

And if today, a star falling from the heavens
Should set your whole body aflame,
I will not sit by to burn along;
I shall only deign to walk away.

Forgive me child, I mean you no harm,
Forgive me child, for I merely want to live.
And you are a flame that shall
Burn evermore-I wither away, I wither away.
