Part 10

At the foot of a gurney,
A doctor stands watching,
As nurses flit around
as ants around a falling shoe.
The girl in blue lay down,
Once beautiful, now wrapped
In a charred raiment.
She chants to herself
“Just let me go,
I can be with him,
Just let me go.”
And as she dies in his colleagues arms,
He wonders who he is.
