Souls kindred

Would you to me now lie
for my vanity to please
my touch alone brings you pleasure
still makes you weak on your knees

Even after all these years
I am not the man you once knew
perhaps so attuned to each other
that from each other we withdrew

But what's really behind that smile
is that merely devotion in your eyes
Do I even really care that it is?
Does love ever have a demise?

With long years came such familiarity
Like kindred souls we yearn
We're lovers, we're friends, we're foes
We smolder, we simmer, we burn

The End
