Sundrops

If sundrops could fall from the great grey clouds,
Instead of this cold, dark, and dreary rain,
And warm the people, wrapped up in their shrouds,
Maybe the world would have one "ouch" less pain.
If  trees filled the city, grown through the concrete,
And rooftop meadows bloomed and buzzed above,
Then maybe two more sweet people could meet,
And two more sweet people could fall in love.
If maybe I smiled just one more smile,
Then maybe one more person would smile too,
Grins on our faces would stun and beguile,
Soon the whole world would smile with us on cue.
If only sundrops rained, and trees filled roads,
And people smiled, but "if only" corrodes.

The End
