Sonnets

You greet them with a rather friendly smile
You shake their hand and look them in the eye
Maybe you'll even stay their friends a while
But in truth, reader, friendship is a lie

Some "friends" may even stay for many years
You think they'll always be loyal and true
But one day they'll laugh at your falling tears
You see, you can't trust others, only you

You think, "A bit of pain to so much joy!"
But you delude yourself, it is all pain
It's like the giant, wooden horse of Troy
To think love harmless, that is the true chain

Oh listen, world, to what I have to say
And save yourself from so much pain today

The End
