I am a salute

I am a parasite

I am a symbol

Seperate and yet

One and the same

But they hate me for it

Hate me for the solitary fact

That I use up the same oxygen as them

And they steal glances

As if I could take it all back

Regurgitate those little molecules

Simple atom functions

And waste away in minimal energy

But they love me for it

Love me for my invisible waves

Of delicate breath

Of diaphanous compliments

Of wanting

Loving the same things they do

And thinking the same evil thoughts they do

And breathing out the same CO2

They hate the truth the lips carry out

They hate my contemptuous smile

And my pointedly ironic pout

But at least I don't have halitoses

The End
