Significant Digits

Recommend

We erased away all of the zeroes,

The nothingness that floated away,

Into space or somewhere just as grand,

Or to a grave, in a far off distant land.

We hand picked the numbers worth keeping,

The few that defined value, a sense of placement,

And moved them to the front, with all of those,

Wasted zeroes multiplied behind the ones we chose.

And this new, tiny, number we had found,

Came to represent something greater than our minds could obtain.

For when the foundation of science is no longer sound,

The silence still remains.
