She Never Left Summer School

She stares at the test sheet before her
her name in a tidy script, always inside a love heart
But there is a name missing, and she knows it
But sadly, neither does he

Oh please help me
I can’t seem to live with this
If you knew, oh if you knew
If we could run away together...

He glances with friendly intent
as the butterflies flutter softly
She wants to tell him so
She wants to tell him what she did for him

She failed purposely
so she could spend the summer
Hoping to catch a glimpse of his blue eyes
Her saviour, her protector, her everything

Love-notes she never sends
all encased beneath her bed
She never wants him to leave
but in two months she will have to

Oh please help me
I can’t seem to live with this
If you knew, oh if you knew
If we could run away together...

Her parents spoke with acid tongue
her Fathers hands did much more damage
She just wants to escape
she wants to leave

She stares at the note before her
as tears splash on her careful handwriting
His name was inside of a love heart
below the confessions of her life

She never left summer school
that fateful day
She remained behind, with her teacher
breaking down as he left
He can’t know how she feels
He can’t know how she feels
He can’t know how she feels right now
he can’t know what she has done

The End
