Shame

Once a sad and lonely girl

Set fire to another's world.

She lit the match and set the flame

And told herself she felt no shame.

She walked away and watched it burn

Thought of her act at every turn.

For a boy she did this thing

A boy who loved to hear her sing.

He loved her in a way she felt

With every look her heart would melt.

Everything to him she gave

Held nothing back, nothing she saved.

In her eyes he could do no wrong

He made her believe in his love song.

Then one day he came to tell

The news that opened her gates of hell.

He loved another, he had said

Another girl was in his head.

She hugged him close and wished him well

He left her in her burning hell.

She gave him everything

Was left with nothing.

Once a sad and lonely girl

Set fire to another's world.

She lit the match and set the flame

Now all she has left is her burning shame.

The End
