Self-Inflicted

When someone casts doubt and inflicts sorrow and burden across their own heart, and wishing you could be rid of them, for fear they may one day do the same to you.

Your hanging by a thread

My words have the power to unbalance

Warp and distort your reality

Eggshells crack under the pressure of my own making

And I'm only just awakening

To the fact I may just have to break you

Baby I'm running away from you

Cause I can't stand the games you play

I can't stand everything you do

I'm solving puzzles just to talk to you

You're panicing though I tell you to stay easy

Why can't you see it's only worse for yourself

You ponder to the needs of leeches

Your minds besieged

And I wash my hands of your troubles

As your will breaks and turns to rubble

Baby I'm running away from you

Cause I can't stand the games you play

I can't stand everything you do

I'm solving puzzles just to talk to you

I tried my best to guard you from the world

But it's your life to stress over

Though inside you're still a little girl

At night you ask me questions I have no idea

And honestly I try my best

But you wear me out

Infecting me with a venomous doubt

All I can do is turn inside and shout

All I can do is turn myself inside out

Baby I'm running away from you

Cause I can't stand the games you play

I can't stand everything you do

I'm solving puzzles just to talk to you

Treading on the wire

And the wild is beckoning

Unload your burdens, get away from me

The wild is calling you babe

Shake off the world, see what those at peace see

Baby I'm running away from you

Cause I can't stand the games you play

I can't stand everything you do

I'm solving puzzles just to talk to you

The End
