Santa Monica Boulevard

She starts her rounds on the edge of
Santa Monica Boulevard
Waiting for the disillusion of the Hollywood
dream to set in

Jasper is a middle class man left
depressed by ex-girlfriend
The last girl he ever fell for
lead him on until he was lost

Then he saw her, soaking in the streetlight

For $50 dollars she will love
she will love you
she will love you
for tonight
For $50 dollars she will do that
she will do that
she will do that
she will

They were introduced by the sidewalk
But he didn’t know, she judged him by the size of his...
wallet, so she could eat and escape skid row
he never once noticed the bruises on her neck

Every Tuesday night he would sink
into her arms and open his soul
But she never listened to what he said
as he drew closer every passing week

For $50 dollars she will love
she will love you
she will love you
for tonight
For $50 dollars she will do that
she will do that
she will do that
she will

One dreary Saturday, when he gathered his change
With anxiety gripping his hands, he bought a diamond ring
Then while driving his usual route, the seediness of it all
reached a climax when he saw her so angelic...

But she was with another client, that fateful hour
Jasper almost cried, as she leant on the mystery man’s car
He was broke tonight, but he wanted her anyway
Running over to her, to try and save her

But she glared at him, a roll of $50’s in her hand
caught his eye...
Less than twenty words were spoken
until the mystery man rose from his car
and struck her in the neck
and struck her in the neck
another lost soul
Who found love... where there was none

For $50 dollars she will love
she will love you
she will love you
for tonight
For $50 dollars she will do that
she will do that
she will do that
she will

The End
