~Roman Candle~

When I’m feeling alone/all on my own

And the darkness enfolds me/in its chilling embrace

I’ll close my eyes/and I’ll picture a flame

That flickers at the end of a Roman candle

I needed space.

I needed time.

When was it last/that you were mine?

In the darkness I’ll wait for someone like you.

Until I realize what I always knew

There’s no one like you/no there’s no one like you

(No one like you)

I see the flame sparking in the night/that flickers at the end of a Roman candle

(A Roman candle)

Do as they do.

(Do as they do)

When in Rome/do as they do.

I’ll blend into the crowd/hide my face from you

I won’t make a sound/I’ll hide my face from you

Guided by the light of a Roman candle/a Roman candle

I needed space.

I needed time.

I needed the chance to call you mine.

Where did the time go/through the hourglass

The grains of sand/spilling through the cracks

Minute by minute/Hour by hour

All along I didn’t have the power

To stay with you/by your side

I know now that you were never mine

I see the flame sparking in the night/that flickers at the end of a Roman candle

(A Roman candle)

Do as they do.

(Do as they do)

When in Rome/do as they do.

I’ll blend into the crowd/hide my face from you

I won’t make a sound/I’ll hide my face from you

Guided by the light of a Roman candle/a Roman candle

When was it last/that you were mine?

I’m sorry old friend/lost track of the time

Didn’t you write/sang a song about me?

I heard the notes/set the caged bird free

Guided by the light of a Roman candle/a Roman candle

(A Roman candle)

The End
