Witching Hour

Recommend

The night is dark, so long my friend
I wish for you to come again
The darkness watches; secrets unfurl
That one day we might show the world

The sweet, solemn sound of dark winter rain
Forgive and forget all the day's harsh pain
Let the night bring forth what you dare not say
The things we must hide from the light of day

The night brings back such exhilarating thought
Which we assumed was all for naught
Let the darkness embrace us, together we stand
As we fall forever, hoping to land

The sun favors not the secrets we hide
But the stars of night smile down with pride
Maybe one day soon, this war shall pass
And our hearts contented, forever we'll last

The End

Author guidance for This poem

Bartimaeus This is a series of poems that I began writing in November of 2009. There are a few poems that I haven't published in here, but the majority of my poetry is contained in this story. What are these about? Hopes, dreams, desires, loves, pains, fears; it's all there. Not all of these are poems, but they all have some sort of reason and/or rhyme. Each work means something important to me.

Somewhere around chapter 35, I began writing lots and lots of song lyrics, and I decided to create an entirely different story for those songs entitled The Songwriting Notebook of Thomas Welsh.

I eventually plan on whittling down the best works into a small book of poems. If I can combine this work with several others on the site, I may have something published.
