The Ring

This heart sits in a sodden field
Looking at the clouds
They swirl and swim and change their colors
Displaying such fears and doubts

No broken pieces here
Are there to be found
But still the thought prevades
This field's not safe and sound

Day by day and night by night
You sit upon this soul
You inspire hope and worry
Which one will take its toll?

Has this heart become so selfish
Thinking only of its fate
The importance of your wellness
Lies under fear of late

This heart listens hard and true
For the chiming church bells' ring
Sometimes I wonder if you'll listen
Or if you'll burn my ring

The End
