Advice to Dreamers

Ride through the paper walls

Loved ones build to keep you safe.

Go nearly too far and farther go--

Farther than they ever dare.

See they’ve packaged their limitations,

Marketed them like snake oil panaceas,

And swallowed their own pitches.

Be mindful:  your restless freedom

Keeps them from seeing

What is almost within reach.

But remember that you know.

You’ll always know,

Though you might never make it

To where you want to go,

At least you know the distance

Holds more than a mocking mirage.

The End
