Rain

There goes the lightning striking into the plains
I left in secrecy, not long after you did
I should have seen the signs
the spiteful calm before all was revealed

Storm clouds loomed in the horizon
but we made our plans to meet anyway
I never thought it was meant for us
but it’s hard to deny that it wasn’t right

Then the rain began to fall
I can’t see you anymore

Thunder looms upon forbidden hills
a long time ago, we were together there
It was the wrong place at the wrong time
but youth listens to no dire warnings

The wind began to howl amongst the din
but we were blind to what was going to happen
You never knew what you truly wanted
and I thought I was just inadequate

Then the rain began to fall
I can’t see you anymore

Within the debris
I lost faith when I saw
You had already stolen away
sheltered within him
I had no one
I had no one
I was back where I started

The End
