Can I...?

Can I watch you fall to the ground?
Can I watch your burning tears falling all around?
Can I watch as you forget who you are?
Can I watch as you fall, oh, so far?
Can I watch as your limp body falls down?
Can I watch as your tortured heart loses it's star-light-filled crown?

Can I stand to see your smile fade?
Can I stand to watch as you are stabbed by blade after blade?
Can I stand to watch you losing your light?
Can I stand to see you facing such plight?
Can I stand still while they bring the whip down?
Can I stand to see your blood dripping down?

Can I continue to see you frozen in pain?
Can I continue to ignore the burden you bear to someone else's gain?
Can I continue to let your heart remain in its shattered state?
Can I continue to refuse to get your pain to abate?
Can I continue to let you wander shadows and fear?
Can I continue to watch and do nothing to ease the weight that you bear?

And I will tell you that the answer to all these questions is no.
And I will not let you sink to the lowest of low.
And I will tell you that I love you for WHO you are, not what.
And I will tell you that I will no longer let your lifelines be cut.
And I will tell you that I'll try my best guard you and keep you.
And I will tell you that these words are and always will be true.
