the layers of my skinMature

If we do nothing,
if we simply allow
the air to circulate -
to drive our pulse,
propel our motions,
fuel our instincts -
the room will cool
as the night air
seeps into my skin,
separating each layer
with a fine coating of ice -
too strong to crack
but weak enough
to melt.

The End
