The Rivertalker- The first of January

The Earth has finished its solar course,

Once more we're done with some remorse,

Yet still we had our noble days,

When we rose above our lesser ways.

We've made some peace, in spite of war,

We've fed the hungry and helped the poor,

We've healed the sick, we've made a friend,

We've kept our planet from its end.

But soon the year will end and die,

With all our souls still asking why,

Like why the hate still shows its face,

When it's clear to all, our need for grace.

So soon the New Year will be here,

We'll sing Auld Lang Syne and shed a tear,

But pray us all one, first hopeful prayer,

That we might learn to care and share.

The End
