Anyone - Getting There

I know a young girl whose parents are dead,

Whose smile always brightens my day,

She's raising herself and learning her life,

Finding her feet and making her way,

And day after day I know that she'd say

That she's getting there.

I've seen how she struggles to make herself heard,

I've seen what she's willing to pay,

I've watched her laugh at trouble and strife,

Turn a blind eye or enter the fray,

And day after day I know that she'd say

That she's getting there.

There's no happy ending, no ending just yet,

Though I'm sure that there's one on the way,

I've hope that she'll find the right turning in life,

A path she can walk and words she can say;

That day after day, in every way,

She's getting there.

The End
