Kingdoms in Space

What a waste
of breath
the sun
turned out to be
could never amount
to how bright
your smile was for me
I could catch
the stars
for you
if you asked me to
but I'd feel
they aren't enough
I would offer you
with more moons
than Jupiter
With more beauty
than Athena
I would put you right in space
so that the stars and moons and suns and planets
could be jealous
of what they would never amount to
no colour to match your eyes
nothing as bright as your smile
there would be nothing
and they would hold a banquet
in honour of you
And the sun would bow to you
and it would be a kingdom
with the purpose of being
yours for the taking

The End
