There was a boy (1)

There was a boy who never quite caught my eye
and I still saw him
and I didn't exist

there was a boy who I thought drowned in his intelligence
and I took care of his smile
and I still didn't exist

there was a boy who always stayed quiet
and I paid attention
and I still didn't exist

there was a boy who didn't smile as much in that class
and I always noticed
and I started to exist

there was a boy who took my hand
and swore he'd never let go
and I existed

there was a boy who I cared about
and I held onto his hand
and I cried

there was a boy who I found
he wouldn't open his eyes
but I saw his tears

there was a boy that I wished I knew
his eyes seemed as vacant as my soul
and I didn't want to exist anymore

there was a boy I saw in a picture frame
but it wasn't him anymore
and we didn't exist for awhile

there was a boy who broke his promise
and I remember how warm he felt
but he disappeared

there was a boy who held his breath
his soul was as shattered as mine
and I wished I didn't exist

there was a boy who I missed
and I never forgot him
but we still existed

The End
