Steps to the Moon

She was dancing in the dark
and didn't think he'd see
But when the moonlight fell
and lit up around her
He stepped out beside her
and took her hand
And twirled her through the air
Not a sound to be heard
Not another sight to be seen
not even labored breathing
Just the sound of wind stirring among the trees
And two hearts beating as one.
As he gently takes her into his arms
Neither speaks
Neither moves
Just staring into one another's eyes
And he softly murmurs to her
And she nods
They start slowly walking
He lets her go, one of her hands still in his
She lays her head on his arm
The night slowly fades from them
As they lay under a tree
Watching the sky

The End
