Over Murky Depths

My first attempt at a long poem - it is written in cinquains and is a story about an eventful day in a swamp :)

Branches,

Fragile fingers,

Twisted and contorted,

Weak leaves do break and fall away,

Swooning.

Waters,

Blurry surface,

Hidden dangers below,

Darkness in the gloomy depths,

Rising.

One man,

Behind a tree,

Feet sinking in the wet,

Clinging onto the bark for life,

Drowning.

Cascade,

Little droplets,

Glistening in the trees,

Glittering as they plummet down,

Splish splash.

Green leaves,

Floating softly,

Swaying on a current,

Anchored in by sturdy lines of

Themselves.

Reaching

Out comes a hand,

Pushing through the murky,

Calling with an olive finger,

Beckons.

Cunning,

Smiles the creature,

Success nearing its sights,

The mission within reach of the

Dirty hands.

The End
