Our Ruin
I'm supposed to be older and wiser
Looking to mould my destiny, another 2.5
But I'm living young, I wanna be free to roam nowhere
Guarding another day against thoughts of suicide
Where is the prosperity
In the films we find devotion and empathy
But this is a world devoid of emotion
Red capped news screaming out in apathy
Run, let's run, staying young
It's our last chance to have some fun
Run, let's run, staying young
It's our ruin under this cold sun
I'm due to be starting my slavish journey to retirement
I should be in christmas cards with my new family
But this crooked world I have come to resent
So I'm living alone, I'm only living for me
Where is the joy in life
All we can do now is drink, burn or cry
It's a place to drown, this suicide town
We'll either crash and burn or finally fly
Run, let's run, staying young
It's our last chance to have some fun
Run, let's run, staying young
It's our ruin under this cold sun
Beyond the boulevards where we exist
Drunken moments under highways where the kids kiss
If only we could I'd fire up the car and drive
I'd give my future the middle finger as I try to hide
We can't get out now
Even the young feel older and more wary now
Run, let's run, staying young
It's our last chance to have some fun
Run, let's run, staying young
It's our ruin under this cold sun
