tell me you love me like you remember when it was goodMature

Tell me you love me -
say it like the words are dripping,
thick and sweet, from your open,
laughing mouth.
Like a thousand church bells
couldn’t drown you out,
not if they were trying,
not if they called in reinforcements.
Tell me you love me -
like it’s the last thing you’ve ever wanted
but it’s the only thing left. Like the morning light
will wipe away everything but
the way your mouth finds the hollows of me
and brings them new ways
of describing something holy.

The End
