If Only

For loss is not an evil,

but an everlasting blue;

my heart would be unscathed,

if only I hadn't lost you.

The secret dance of anguish,

the song brimming with woe;

no ballroom steps of torment,

only if I had known.

Misery loves company,

at least that's what they say;

but your company is what I yearn for,

if only we had another day.
