One Friend, Recently Unrequited Lover

One touch,

A moment later you were gone,

But your touch lingered on and on,

Till memory rolled like film,

Across each sane path of thought.

One thought,

I was adrift and helpless,

No bridge to help my resistance,

Alone in thought and memory,

Desire began to unfold.

One spark,

I could resist you,

Said 'No I think I'm through',

I can go on without hope of you,

And start my life as a friend to you.

The End
