Come

I thought I'd heard your voice there,
Rising above the crowd,
Calling out to tell me I should stop.
I didn't listen.

I thought I heard you crying,
Your voice so soft and young.
Calling out to tell me that I should go.
I didn't listen.

Now years later I heard you crying
Your voice no longer young.
You called out to tell me I should stop
I should have listened.

Now I'm here, and there's no going back.

The End
