The Promise of Melody

The chord, strummed,
It hums through the summer air,
Vibrating, unburdened,
Carrying the promise of melody.

It whispers, freed,
Singing of untold harmony,
Calling, insistent,
Giving a promise of melody.

The strings, struck,
Shimmer from side to side,
Dancing, let loose,
Revelling in the promise of melody.

The harp, warm,
Gives the chords and airing,
The flute, light,
Tells a promise of melody.

The End
