Of Tenderness

Under the same canopy we stood
trying to escape a chance shower
two people that had never met before
and to each other undiscovered

Saw you breathe so slowly in
and suddenly quite aware of my own
outside the world scurrying for shelter
yet amongst this crowd we were alone

Into your eyes I glimpsed a world
so beautiful and full of mysteries
After the elation came that sadness
that I wasn't a part of this history

And then the showers passed away
this moment was so fleeting
With a smile you walked away
could see my happiness receding

I was hoping that you'd look back
but the world swallowed you away
For that gift of stolen tenderness
I've been searching for until today

The End
