Of bone deep love

And so here we are
Fragile and exhausted to the core
From both mourning the death
And celebrating the life
Of an extraordinary soul

Her own women til the end
A role model
An inspiration
An imperfect mapping of a life well lived
As it should be

Our own lives
Cast in sharp new light
As our pounding, high contrast grief
Makes us harsher on ourselves
On what we have become

Our work all at once
Of utmost importance
Yet irrelevant
As we seek comfort in togetherness
Tea, prosecco, takeaways

Together we find sense
We find meaning
In family
In all that means
In all that is

Fragile and broken
Yet somehow safe in the next generation
Of bone deep love

The End
