Ode to Water

This was an English assignment that we were doing in class; I didn't have anywhere to save it so I put it on here.

Ode to Water

Falling from the sky,
Dropping miles to the ground.
Drip.
Drop.
Pouring into rivers,
Oceans,
And brooks.
Drip.
Drop.
Dancing through the obstacles.
Rocks,
Twigs,
And branches.
Drip.
Drop.
Carrying our life,
Being,
And survival,
In its peace and tranquility.
Drip.
Drop.
Saving us,
One drop at a time.
Healing us,
With every whisper and rhyme.
Drip.
Drop.
Speaking,
Singing,
Sighing.
Drip.
Drop.
Flowing through
The tainted souls we’ve become.
Drip.
Drop.
Jumping into our bodies,
Seeping into our skin.
Drip.
Drop.
Pouring from the sky,
Pouring from my eyes.
Slow,
Smoothly,
And gently.
Drip.
Drop.
Solitude, confined in a space,
Until something stirs up the storm.
Drip.
Drop.
Thunder rolls in,
Lightning crashes in the sky.
Rain flies down,
Like bullets in a battle.
Drip.
Drop.
Tear drops shooting down on us,
Cold,
Hard,
And broken.
Drip.
Drop.
Watching, waiting
For the sun to shine through
The drops.
Drip.
Drop.
Waiting for the reflection,
Of happy memories,
A ribbon of color across the sky.
Drip.
Drop.
The water has seeped into the ground,
Making life begin once again.
Drip.
Drop.
Flowers blossoming,
Buds opening,
The reincarnation of those here once before.
Drip.
Drop.
The vital thing
Necessary to all being.
Drip.
Drop.
Is almost out.
Is almost stopped.

Drip.

Drop.

The ground dries out,
The life fades away.

Nothing.

Once beautiful things,
Now shriveled and crippled,
Lying on the ground,
Waiting for

Nothing.

When will the water fall once again?
When will this tragedy end?

Nothing.

The sky breaks out,
Into a cluster of black clouds.
A breeze blows,
And watches as the water returns.
Drip.
Drop.
Dancing on its way down,
From the clouds high above.
Making its way back into life,
Making its way back into love.
Drip.
Drop.

The End
